During the production of animal feed, several industrial processes are run through, such as feed drying. By integrating the high temperature heat pump, the exhaust air from the dryers produced in the process can be used as a heat source via an intermediate circuit. With a temperature level of 120 °C, the recovered heat is fed back into the process. Two frequency-controlled screw compressors allow the heat pump to be highly adaptable to the load requirements. By means of this sustainable technology, a large amount of fossil fuel can be saved.
Two modern CHP units in an electricity plant, each with a firing thermal capacity of 3.6 MW, achieve a utilization rate of between 96-105%. This high efficiency is achieved by means of two heat pumps, by which various waste heat flows can be recovered and raised to a usable temperature level. The two heat pumps have a total of eight reciprocating compressors and generate a total heat output of 1.6 MW.
